Sevens titles down for decision

THE stage is set for one of the traditional sporting highlights of the year in Killarney with the finals of the seven-a-side summer soccer tournament down for decision this Wednesday and Thursday night.

Organised by Killarney Athletic AFC and sponsored by Killarney Credit Union, this is the 43rd year of the big event and tension is mounting ahead of the deciders in a number of age categories.

The Fáilte Legends will be hoping to retain the senior title they won so convincingly last summer but they will face stiff opposition from The Last Picks when they clash at 8 o’clock tonight in Woodlawn.

The 15-minute-a-side Reserve Cup decider at 6.45pm will feature MD O’Shea’s Park Road v The Dean Machine while the Over 35 final at 7.25pm will see a clash of Jimmy Brien’s Bar and Tim Jones Older Butchers in a 12-minute-a-side encounter.

On Thursday night the attention will turn to the underage deciders with the following fixtures down for decision:

7.00pm – Under 10: The Auctioneer Boys v Dream Team.

7.30pm – Under 12: Hardly Athletic v The Hammers.

8.00 – Under 14: Arctic Cactus v Classic 10.

8.30 – Under 16: Lincoln Skins v Dorian’s Disciples.
