Sam Maguire was the star attraction at a fabulous, action-packed, family fun day hosted by Spa GAA Club at the weekend.
Club stars Dara Moynihan and Dan O’Donoghue are both integral players in the Kerry senior squad and although both were hampered by injuries this season, they still got to enjoy the magic of Kerry’s first All-Ireland senior success in eight years.
Sam was in big demand for selfies and families queued up to have their snapshots taken with the most precious and coveted trophy in Gaelic football.
But the cup – or the football – weren’t the only big attractions on the fun-filled day which had a host of family favourite sports and novelties to keep the adults and the young at heart amused, including novelty races, a tug-of-war, a gruelling hand tough challenge and a skills competition.
And for those not feeling too energetic there was a delicious barbecue, a cake sale, face printing and even an on-site tattoo artist – just in case anyone wanted areplica Sam or the Spa crest engraved on their forearm.
