A TOTAL of 51 formal notices have been issued to property owners in the Killarney area by Kerry County Council instructing them to cut back hedges that protrude on to public roadways.

The worst area was the R563 Faha where eight notices were issued while seven notices each were issues to landowners on the L3011 in Lissivigeen and the L7017 Ballahantouragh-Toornanaunagh area.

A spokesperson for the council said follow-up inspections have been and will continue to be carried out and contractors have been engaged to work on areas that have not been addressed.

“Compliance has been good and follow-on inspections continue,” a spokesperson said.
