Square to Share blanket project was so inspiring

Men and women from across Ireland and abroad got involved in the project

Months of dedication and creativity will come to what promises to be a memorable conclusion next Sunday at Féile na mBláth in Tralee, as a novel Square to Share blanket project reaches its finale.

Everyone that has contributed to crocheting and knitting squares over the past six months is invited to see the Kerry Cancer Support Group’s Cork Bus draped with the lovingly crafted blankets.

The Milltown Knit and Natter Group has been the driving force behind assembling this vivid patchwork of community spirit.

Breda Dyland  from the Kerry Cancer Support Group expressed the hope that as many contributors as possible will be able to attend and see the final result in person.

Once the project concludes all of the blankets will be gifted to users of the Healthlink transport service

“This project has been so inspiring. We’ve had people of all ages, men and women, from across Ireland and even abroad, take part.

“The reasons they joined were often deeply personal and hearing their stories along the way was incredibly moving,” she said.

Breda also extended thanks to everyone who donated both squares and funds and especially to Kaya and the Milltown Knit and Natter Group for their tireless efforts in bringing the vision to life.

Once the project concludes, all of the blankets will be gifted to users of the Healthlink transport service.

The decorated bus will be on display at Féile na mBláth from early Sunday morning and everyone is encouraged to go along and witness this vibrant expression of community creativity and solidarity for themselves.
