Star defender hit with two month ban

THE GAA has slapped an eight-week suspension on star Kerry defender Peter Crowley after it was reported that he squirted water from a bottle in the direction of a Dublin player during the drawn All-Ireland final.

Crowley, who is recovering from a long-term cruciate ligament injury was maor uisce on the day and patrolled the sideline on Hogan Stand side of the pitch, from the halfway line to the Davin Stand.

The incident occurred during the second half and it went viral when television images were shared on social media.

Laune Rangers star Crowley, a former All Star, is a hugely popular player with Kerry supporters and his tough, no-nonsense style has added great steel to the Kerry defence in recent years.

It is understood that referee David Gough reported the incident which led to the action being taken.
