IT’S seven months since they slept out under the stars to raise funds for a cause they want to help but this week, with the Covid-19 restrictions eased, students from the transition year class from St Brigid’s Secondary School in Killarney were finally in a position to hand over the cheque.
The class of 2019/20 held the sponsored sleep-out last February to raise funds for and awareness of the homeless crisis in Ireland.
As part of a St Vincent de Paul programme, the students were also provided with opportunities to engage in social action in their local community and encourage personal and social development.
In recent day the students presented an impressive €1,270 to St Vincent de Paul to continue the great work that they do.
“It was an amazing amount raised by our girls and it is testament to the work that was put in,” the school said in a statement.
