Swifties and young scriptwriters have fun

A day of free creative activity for children and young was a big hit in Kerry on Saturday with a programme of workshops, performances and events.

The theme for this year’s  Cruinniú na nÓg programme was Unleash your creative spark and Kerry offered 67 free activities for children and young people, including dance,

Mayor of Kerry, Cllr Breandán Fitzgerald, remarked: “Kerry County Council is delighted to partner with Creative Ireland on Cruinniú na nÓg. This is a great day for children and young people who have many opportunities to explore creativity and maybe find a new skill”.

In Killarney Lily MacMonagle’s MACademy Stage School organised a Taylor Swift Workshop and encouraged Swifties to Sing it, Shake it, Slay it at the ANAM centre while the Kerry International Film Festival hosted a create your own script workshop at Muckross Traditional Farms.

Killarney also played host to a Singer’s Circle with Grace Foley and Music Generation Kerry offered a fun-filled Whack, Strum, Play event.

Kate Kennelly, the Creative Ireland Co-ordinator and Arts Officer with Kerry County Council, said it was fantastic to see so much on offer to inspire upcoming generations to explore their creative potential.

Cruinniú na nÓg Kerry 2025 took place across the county with representation in every Municipal District. The programme was coordinated by the Creative Ireland’s Kerry Office at Kerry County Council and funded by through the Department of Culture, Communication and Sport.
