A young Killarney sportsman, who is a very accomplished soccer and Gaelic games player, has been called up to the Republic of Ireland Under 18 school’s squad for training this weekend ahead of a glamour friendly against Australia.
Luke Doolan, who is an outstanding young star with Killarney Athletic AFC, has been included in the 24-strong squad which will be whittled down to 18 after the weekend sessions in Athlone.
Luke impressed in a recent trial against UCD in which he scored and against Bray where he created another goal.
The St Brendan’s College student is also a fine Gaelic footballer with Spa GAA Club, is considered to be a great prospect on the soccer field, so much so that Newcastle United FC’s Under 21 coach and former Killarney Athletic and Glasgow Celtic player Diarmuid O’Carroll said he has heard great things about him.
