A GROUP of dedicated fundraisers, spearheaded by 2004 Kerry Person of the Year award winner Denis Geaney, has raised an impressive 22,150 for a very worthy cause.

Team Geaney – a team of cyclists led by energetic Killarney man Denis Geaney – not only participated in the 180km Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle to raise funds for St Mary of the Angels in Beaufort but the members also organised barbecue with great live entertainment, at Scott’s Hotel in Killarney, to help raise funds for the residential community.
St Mary of the Angels provides services to individuals with a range of needs, including complex medical care, dual diagnosis and high physical support with physical and intellectual disabilities, ranging from moderate to profound. Many residents have been living there for most of their lives.
Ring of Kerry founder Denis said: “We are truly grateful to all the musicians who played and gave their time and talents to the event. The turnout for the barbecue was fantastic.”
He added: “St Mary of the Angels is close to everyone’s heart in Kerry”.
