The changing face of Killarney

FRIDAY FLASHBACK

The changing face of Killarney is highlighted in this snapshot from the 1980’s and it is a sight that many of a certain age in Killarney will remember well.

The red Coca Cola branded building is the old Killarney Mineral Waters offices opposite Killarney Courthouse and adjacent to the Franciscan Friary which was the entrance to the once thriving bottling plant off Lewis Road.

Once a great source of local employment, the building was later demolished and it is replaced today by Vendrick’s Restaurant, Specsavers and a Gala store with apartments overhead.
