Several warm and emotional tributes have been paid following the passing of Kevin O’Shea, a popular personality in the Killarney tourism industry who was head concierge at the five-star Aghadoe Heights Hotel and a member of staff there for over 30 years.

Kevin, from Lissivane East in Milltown, passed away, peacefully at home and in the care of his family, on Friday.

​​He will be remembered by many as a great ambassador for Kerry tourism and Aghadoe Heights Hotel General Manager, Brian Bowler, said Kevin was a dear colleague who was cherished by management and staff as well as guests.

“During his time with us he touched countless lives – those of his co-workers and every visitor who walked through our doors,” he said.

Mr Bowler said Kevin had a deep connection to the history and culture of Aghadoe and Kerry and he shared his extensive knowledge with humour, professionalism and warmth, delighting guests with a witty story.

“His natural ability to fulfill even the most challenging requests brought joy and admiration from those who encountered him,” Mr Bowler added.

Very recently several of Kevin’s work colleagues gathered at his home to celebrate his 60th birthday.

Predeceased by his parents Kevin and Eileen and his sister Margaret, Kevin is survived by his wife Siobhán, his children Keven, Orla and Darragh, son-in-law John, brother Denis, sisters Gerardine, Maura and Deirdre, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and many friends.

Reposing this Sunday from 4.00pm to 7.00pm at Flynn’s Funeral Home, Castlemaine, the funeral is scheduled to arrive at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Listry for Requiem Mass at 1.30pm on Monday with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery
