They don’t call it Beauty’s Home for nothing

Beauty’s home:  deer wandering beside the public car park at Killarney Golf and Fishing Club

THE spectacular surroundings of Killarney Golf and Fishing Club is ranked right up there alongside some of the world’s top tourist attractions in terms of natural beauty, a new survey suggests.

The club’s Mahony’s Point course has been scored between six and seven out of 10 when compared to international tourist magnets like the Eiffel Tower, the canals of Venice, the Sistine Chapel in Rome and the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

A new study based on questionnaires completed by UK holidaymakers, conducted by Your Golf Travel and Tourism Ireland, for Golf Ireland, has found that some of the most beautiful landscapes across Europe are located on golf courses with many visitors happy to swap the beach for the fairways.

There are now over 22,200 searches per month for golf breaks and over 1,000 of them were asked to rate images of golf courses across Ireland against well-known tourist attractions.

The Mahony’s Point beauty rating out of 10, when compared to some of the tourist attractions were:

  • Eiffel Tower: 7.1
