TOYOTA has closed out 2021 as the most popular car brand, both in Kerry and throughout the rest of the country.
With a 12.44 per cent share of the passenger car market and four of its models – the RAV4, Corolla, C-HR and Yaris – on the top 10 bestsellers list, the success underpins the continued popularity of Toyota self-charging hybrids.
Tim Kelliher, of Kelliher’s Toyota Tralee – the sole Toyota dealer in the county – remarked: “The stand-out fact for me is that 98.25 per cent of all the Toyota cars we sold in Kerry last year were self-charging hybrids”.
He added: “Our customers trusted us and trusted Toyota years ago in the switch away from diesel and that trust is now paying off, with lower running and maintenance costs along with higher resale values – three core principles of Toyota ownership.
“We here at Kellihers look forward to supplying the county with superior Toyota products in the years ahead.”
Toyota sold an impressive 13,053 passenger cars, which represents more than a 30 per cent year-on-year increase.
Toyota maintains that when a wide range of electrified options are made available to customers, they tend to choose more environmentally friendly models as evidenced by the fact that 92 per cent of Toyota’s sales were for its low emission, self-charging hybrid electric vehicles.
With significantly more low emission vehicles on Irish roads than any other car brand, Toyota sees hybrid technology as a key cornerstone in the move towards more sustainable motoring.
Toyota firmly believes that its hybrids play a vital role in swiftly and easily moving people away from higher polluting vehicles, particularly as they are very affordable and don’t require plugging in to charge.
Toyota looks forward to another successful year in 2022 and the team at Kellihers is excited for the arrival of the bZ4X, the first zero emission full battery electric car in June. For more information on full Toyota range, contact sales at Kellihers on 066-710000 or check out www.kellihers.ie
