Tributes have been paid to the late Breda Breen, Blackstones Bridge, Glencar, who was a long-standing member of the Kerry Way Committee.
Norman Reidy, chairman of the committee, said Breda was a stalwart of the organisation for many decades and ably represented the business interests and trail users.
Breda and her late husband Padraig owned and ran the renowned Blackstones House in Glencar for many years.
Mr Reidy said she was a kind, thoughtful and gentle lady and she had truly great insight into what the Kerry Way trail users needed.
”Many walkers, anglers and outdoor enthusiasts stayed with them over the years at their famous house nestled in the heart of Glencar where a warm welcome was always on the menu after a long walk,” he said.
The Kerry Way management committee has extended its condolences to both the Breen and Corkery families at this sad time.
Breda (née Corkery), formerly of Laune View, Killorglin, passed away the palliative care unit of University Hospital Kerry on Monday.
Predeceased by her husband Padraig and her sister Eileen (Joy), she is survived by her sister Kathleen (Sheehan), nephews and nieces Laurence, Elaine, Angela, Patrick, Muiris and Padraig, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, relatives, neighbours and many friends.
Reposing this Tuesday at Flynn’s Funeral Home Killorglin (V93PK66) from 5.00pm to 7.00pm, the funeral will arrive on Wednesday to St Stephen’s Church, Glencar for Requiem Mass at 12noon with burial afterwards in Ardmoniel Cemetery, Killorglin.
