MEMBERS of the Connect trade union employed at the Liebherr Container Crane plant in Killarney are understood to be planning a one-day work stoppage this Wednesday.
The largest electrical engineering union in the country – which represents up to 40,000 workers nationwide – is understood to have concerns about reported plans to change terms and conditions of employment for some of its members.
The one-day strike at the Fossa factory follows a work-to-rule and detailed negotiations over a number of months. Connect claims an agreed framework should either side seek changes to the terms and conditions has not been adhered to.
The one-day work stoppage will commence as the factory opens tomorrow morning and whether members of other trade unions will cross the picket line remains to be confirmed.
Connect spokesman Mark Dobbins was not contactable for comment on Tuesday evening.
