Victory will cement second place for Killarney

Scott’s Lakers coach Shane McCarthy

KILLARNEY’S Scott’s Lakers national league home game against Fr Mathews has been confirmed for the Pres Gym in Killarney this Saturday with a 7.30pm tip-off.

The Cork side defeated the Lakers 84-72 in Cork last November and the Lakers will be particularly anxious to make amends for that result.

The Killarney side are in second place on the league table with a 16-4 winning record after 20 matches while their nearest challengers are, in fact, Fr Mathews on a 13-5 winning record after 18 games played.

A win will guarantee second spot for the Lakers and an opportunity of a play-off for the superleague.

Fr Mathews, meanwhile, have to win this and their other games in hand to keep any play-off hopes alive but home advantage should be a big boost for Shane McCarthy’s side.
