They watched Joe go on the rebel mountains

SUPER fit Killarney endurance athlete Joe O’Leary made it all look like a stroll in the park as he competed in the gruelling Slí Gaeltacht Mhúscraí Ultra, a physically demanding 71km adventure race, at the weekend.

A member of the Irish Mountain Runners Association, Joe tore through the course which was based on a section of the famous Beara-Breifne Way, starting at Carriganass Castle in Kealkill, Co Cork and on to Gougane Barra before finishing at Millstreet.

It involved a total height gain of 2,110, with tough open mountain terrain, forest trails and country roads.

It threw up no real problems for Joe who completed the 71km route in an incredible seven hours, 35 minutes and 38 seconds.
