A beautiful Kerry valley is about to be destroyed by concrete and wind turbines until a no nonsense local sheep farmer and a nutty English professor set out to thwart the destruction.
When you add a bottle of poteen to the mix, anything can happen but what lengths will they dynamic duo go to to enable them to save the countryside?
All will be revealed in an engaging new play penned by accomplished Killarney playwright and actor Ray O’Sullivan which is set to take to the stage.
Rehearsals have been in full swing since September for the Killarney Theatre Company production, Stones, which stars Ray and Brian Hickey who will be remembered for his brilliant portrayal of Patrick is the 1916-themed stage production written by journalist Aidan O’Connor.
Ray said he is s looking forward to delighting audiences again.
“Anytime we’ve ever staged a play, local audiences have really supported us. We have always played to sold out houses and we really, really appreciate everyone’s support,” he said.
“Kerry people love plays and love a good night out and Stones will certainly sure gives them that,” he said.
This is Ray’s fourth full length play and the tour begins in the Foilmore Community Centre this Saturday, November 30 before it opens at the Ivy Leaf Theatre in Castleisland on Thursday, December 5 and the Carnegie Arts Centre in Kenmare on Saturday, December 7.
The concluding performance will be in the INEC Acoustic Club in Killarney on Thursday, December 12.
