THE engines roared and the excitement soared as visitors and locals lined the streets of Killarney in their hundreds this Sunday to witness the incredible spectacle that is the annual BikeFest parade.
Leather and denim clad bikers showcased their dream machines – from spectacular Harley Davidsons to humble Honda 50s – as they paraded in convoy through the streets with motorcycle enthusiasts watching on with all the enthusiasm of a child spotting an approaching ice cream van.
For 13 years the BikeFest has been one of the social and visual summertime highlights in Killarney with thousands of biker enthusiasts and those just out to savour the atmosphere descending on the Gleneagle Hotel festival HQ.
Motorcycle owners and enthusiasts from several countries turned out in force and the event was a real moneyspinner for Killarney with hotels, guesthouses, caravan and camping parks and restaurants all benefiting enormously.
Huge numbers visited the Bike Village over the weekend to check out the bikes, enjoy the free entertainment and get up close and personal with one of the world’s most iconic brands Harley-Davidson.
The action-packed, three-day festival highlights included daily ride-outs, free Harley-Davidson demo rides, a novelty dog show, a custom bike show, this Sunday’s gala parade and great free live indoor and outdoor entertainment day and night.
