Gooch joins clean-up team

colm cooperKERRY’S most famous footballer has urged the public to help clean up the country’s most famous tourist spot.

Colm Cooper is lining out for Kerry County Clean-Up Day which will take place on Saturday, April 2 and the big campaign, facilitated by KWD Recycling, has got full backing from Kerry County Council, Kerry County Board, An Taisce and the Department of Environment.

The Gooch was on hand to help launch the important one-day event which will involve tidy town committees and volunteer groups in Killarney and other parts of the county.

The aim is simple – to pick up all the litter from all the main roads around Kerry in an attempt to keep the environment pristine for locals and visitors. This, in turn, promotes better tourism by making a lasting impression to all who visit the county.

Last year 3,200 volunteers collected over 60 tonnes of litter off the Kerry roads and as many if not more are expected to lend a hand on this occasion.

To show support log on to www.countycleanup.com to register a group and order a free clean-up day pack which includes reflective vests, refuse sacks, and information on how to organise a group.
