A NEW general manager has been appointed to run one of Killarney’s most important tourism gems.

Denis Reidy has taken up the post at the helm of Muckross House following the ratification of his appointment by the Muckross House Trustees.

Mr Reidy holds a Degree in Business Studies from the University of Limerick and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants in Ireland.

He began his career working for a multinational retailer in London, before returning to Ireland, firstly to Dublin and then to Killarney in 1997.

He joined the Trustees in 2002 as financial controller and has also been acting general manager.

The Trustees is a registered charity which works in partnership with the State in showcasing the heritage and folklife of the Killarney area and aims to provide a peerless visitor experience at Muckross.

“Our staff delivers an excellent visitor experience which we aspire to continually improve,” Mr Reidy remarked.

“We hope to grow our partnership with the State so that an increased number of visitors may enjoy Muckross House, Gardens and Traditional Farms.

“We have an excellent management team and dedicated staff, which, coupled with the guidance of an experienced voluntary board of directors, bodes well for the future of the Trustees,” the new general manager added.
